animal suffering

animal suffering

people have been giving me some criticism for saying that animal and human suffering are not comparable things, so I will say this.

I am not for animal cruelty at all, and I have no doubt that animals experience pain and maybe sorrow as acutely as humans do. However, given the choice between the life of a human and the life of an animal, I would choose the human every single time. Veganism is great, and I applaud those who are able to pull it off. However, it is not economically feasible for most people in many parts of the world. While slaughterhouses and the like are reprehensible, I think equating the suffering of human beings with domesticated animals does a huge injustice to the complexity and emotional range and consciousness of the human beings. That?s all.?
